Kipling’s Country, home to the rare Hard Ground Barasingha and foliage that booms with Sal Trees, Kanha National Park which is famous for bengal tiger safari in India is a wildlife lovers’ nirvana. Located between the Banjar and Halon river, Kanha is spread over an area of approximately 1949 km2 (940 km2 core zone and 1009 km2 buffer zone).
As Victor Hugo puts it “Be as a bird perched on a frail branch that she feels bending beneath her, still she sings away all the same, knowing she has wings.” Kanha National Park has almost 300 species of avifauna.
Not all birds are spotted each time you take a safari, for not all of them fly around at the same time. Always remember that you’re visiting a Jungle, not a zoo. They’re free to roam about at home.

The best time to visit Kanha National Park is from November to May, when the climate averages a pleasant temperature of 25 degrees Celsius.

Types of Safaris - Kanha National Park
Jeep Safaris and Walking Safaris : Best experienced through jeep and walking safari, it has a lot to cater to a nature lover. Bird watching is best experienced by walking safari which takes place on defined nature trails. Many Birding enthusiasts made this a birding hotspot in recent times. You can easily hire experience bird naturalists from lodges. Local guides too are highly experienced and help you identify tons of bird species.
How to reach Kanha National Park
By Air : Kanha is a jungle, naturally not having an air strip. However, it is well connected to cities in Madhya Pradesh, that do. Jabalpur – 200 kms, Nagpur – 275 kms and Raipur – 210 kms from the park, are all well connected by air with major cities in the country, i.e. New Delhi and Mumbai.
By Train : Reaching Kanha by Train is simple too. Trains to Gondia Railway Station – 145 km and Jabalpur Railway Station – 160 km from the park, run from major cities in the country, like New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata etc. One can drive to Kanha post this point.
By Road : Kanha is connected to major towns in Madhya Pradesh, that can be travelled to by air or by train.
1. Jabalpur: At a mere distance of 160 kms, Jabalpur is just a 04 hour drive from the Park.
2. Raipur: At a mere distance of 250 kms, Raipur is just a 05 hour drive from the Park.
3. Nagpur: At a mere distance of 300 kms, Nagpur is just a 06-07 hour drive from the Park.
