Besides being the first choice for tiger safari in india, Bandhavgarh is also considered excellent for bird watching and is home to more than 250 species such as Bar-headed Geese, Ruddy Shelduck, Comb Duck, Cotton Teal, Common Teal, Red-crested Pochard, Common Pochard, Barred Buttonquail, Eurasian Wryneck etc.
Hills around Bandhavgarh canopy the park and are breeding grounds for Long billed Vulture, King Vulture and the rare Egyptian Vultire. This park happens to be one of the three places in India where you can find more than one species of Vulture, at a go. Bandhavgarh is home to 5 different species of them and these are regularly sighted in Tala Zone.

How to reach Bandhavgarh National Park
By Air : Bandhavgarh is a jungle, naturally not having an air strip. However, it is well connected to cities in Madhya Pradesh, that do. Jabalpur, approximately 200 kms from the park, is well connected by air with major cities in the country, i.e. New Delhi and Mumbai.
By Train : Reaching Bandhavgarh National Park by Train is simple too. Trains to Umaria (37 kms), Katni (100 kms) and Jabalpur (180 kms) Railway Station, run from major cities in the country, like Mumbai, New Delhi, Jaipur, Agra, Mathura, Gwalior, Bhopal, Sawai Madhopur, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai etc. One can drive to Bandhavgarh post this point.
By Road : Bandhavgarh is connected to major towns in Madhya Pradesh, that can be travelled to by air or by train.
1. Umaria: At a mere distance of 37 kms, Umaria is just a 45 minute drive from the Park.
2. Jabalpur: At a mere distance of 190 kms, Jalbalpur is just a 04 hour drive from the Park.
